Restoring smile of a young novice by the donation of hearing aids, which donated by the medical team at the Ear, Nose and Throat Center, Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital together with Miss Mai

Last week, the Ear, Nose, and Throat Center at Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital was contacted by Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai (Miss Mai), the partnership of the hospital from Vietnam, that there was a Bhutanese novice monk, named Rinchen Wangdi, 11 years old, who had been a hearing impaired since birth and needed help.  Therefore, the hospital had contacted and invited the novice Rinchen to meet Dr. Ketsarin Kittiwanwong, Specialist in Otolaryngology to receive an assessment and analysis on the hearing and plan to cure his impaired hearing.

Realizing the challenging that the novice encountered in performing various Buddhist activities and in his daily life, the medical team advised that the novice Rinchen should wear a hearing aid for facilitating the use of remaining hearing (Residual Hearing) to the greatest benefit.  This will result in better listening and understanding of speech, Miss Mai therefore would like to be a sponsor in donating a pair of hearing aid to novice.  Moreover, Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital also sponsored an additional pair.  Because the location of the temple in Bhutan was on a remote mountain, traveling from Bhutan to Thailand was difficult.  Just a pair of hearing aids might not be enough and in case of damage caused by negligence while playing of young novice in daily life.

Currently, hearing problems that had been existed since childhood, could be solved with medical innovations.  It helped the hearing-impaired to regain his/her hearing like normal people.  The medical team of the Ear, Nose and Throat Center, Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospita together with Miss Mai were very honored to offer hearing aids because this was a very important offering which restored Rinchen's smile and allowed him to perform various Buddhist missions without further interruption.
