Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital and TOA Paint have joined together to highlight the importance of sustainability and environmental conservation

Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital and TOA Paint (Thailand) Public Company Limited have joined hands to emphasise the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.

The hospital is collaborating with TOA to use its recently developed, eco-friendly TOA Green Certified paint.

Thonburi Bamrungmuang will use TOA’s Supershield, a 100% water-based acrylic paint, and TOA Organic Care, an interior paint certified to international safety standards and using natural substances certified by the US USDA. The new paint is aimed at reducing carcinogenic toxins and allergens and has also been certified to meet Australian safety standards. TOA claims that the new paint can inhibit up to 99% of common viruses such as coronavirus (Covid-19), influenza and hand, foot and mouth disease.

Dr. Thitipong Nandhabiwat, CEO of Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital, said the hospital places great importance on environmental conservation in its business operations, and encourages all staff to be aware in their responsibilities towards customers, the community and the environment.

Hospital initiatives include programs aimed at reducing the hospital’s carbon footprint, maximizing the use of technology to minimize paper usage, separating and recycling waste, minimizing plastic and energy use and managing hazardous waste in a health and environmentally friendly manner.

The hospital applies ESG principles (Environmental, Social, Governance) in line with policies set by parent Thonburi Healthcare Group (THG). For the environment, the use of “Greenovation” products such as TOA’s Supershield and TOA Organic paints, is in line with this policy.

TOA paints will be used on the exterior of the hospital, the pediatric and dentistry departments. The paints are applicable to all surfaces, do not require primers and are odorless.

Dr. Thitipong said that the hospital's policy is very clear regarding environmental issues, including the separation of all types of waste and the overall environmental conditions. Every year, the hospital constantly updates and renovates patient rooms to maintain a fresh look.

The hospital has a constant inflow of patients such as the elderly with weakened immune systems and children. Dr. Thitipong said the hospital must be a safe environment for patients, so paints must not have a smell or emit dust or chemicals. The initiative allows for this, while also helping the hospital reduce its carbon footprint, impact on global warming and energy consumption.

Jatuphat Tangkaravakoon, the CEO of TOA Paint (Thailand), said the company aims to present customers with options that are both safe and environmentally friendly.

TOA has become a leader in the paint industry in Thailand through product development that focuses on meeting the needs of customers seeking safe and environmentally friendly solutions, he said.
